Day 1: Arrival in Lima , reception and transfer to your hotel.
Day 2:
After breakfast, transfer to the airport for the flight to Iquitos , about 240km north east of Lima . Arrival and transfer by boat to the Heliconia Lodge, on the shore of the great Amazon river . Heliconia is an Ecolodge located in Yanamono Reserve, 80 Km. away from Iquitos City . The lodge is built in wood using typical material of the region, and the roofs of palm leaves. The lodge accommodates 21 rooms with private bathroom with hot
water. After lunch, a fishing tour to get accustomed to the fish of the Amazon including the piranha. After dinner a lecture discussing the Tucunare, the famous Peacock bass. These are fish that can reach 1.20m (3.9 ft) in length and weigh up to 15 to 16 kg (33 to 35) lbs.
Day 3: Transfer to the Maniti river and Paparo lake to fish for Tucunare and Arowana (dragon fish), sports fish of the Amazon basin that grow to approximately 10 pounds in weight. The Tucunare are natives of the Amazon rivers, and are recognized as four species; Cichla ocelaris, C. temensis, C. orinocensis, and C. monoculas. They prefer to live in the marginal lagoons during the dry season and the flooded forests during the flood season. The Silver Arowana (Osteoglossum bicirrhosum) can grow to around 48 inches in the rivers.
Day 4:
Trip to the Napo river to continue fishing. The Napo is a tributary to the Amazon River that rises in Ecuador on the flanks of the volcanoes of Antisana, Sincholagua and
Cotopaxi.
Day 5:
After breakfast, fishing after bagres (catfish) and piranha. a group of carnivorous freshwater fish living in the rivers of South America They belong to five genera of the subfamily of Serrasalminae (which also includes closely related herbivorous fish including pacus and silver dollars). They are normally about 15 to 25 cm long (6 to 10 inches), although reportedly individuals have been found up to 40 cm in length .
After lunch, transfer to the airport for the return flight to Lima . Transfer to your hotel.
Day 6-8: After breakfast, we head south to Ica , on the Pacific coast.
Continue onto Lomitas where our pacific coast fishing tour will start. This is the best area for flounder, sea bass and Chita fishing, in the cold waters of the Humboldt Current which interact with the El Niño Current. We spend two further days sea fishing on the Pacific Coast Line.
Day 9: Morning fishing tour. Transfer to the Ocucaje hotel for lunch. Return to Lima and transfer to your hotel.
Day 10:
Today we head out to Huaraz at an altitude of 3100 m in the Andes mountains, some 450 km north of Lima.
Transfer to your hotel.
Day 11: We spend the day relaxing, acclimatizing to the increase in altitude and doing a little river fishing on the Rio Santa River.
Day 12: High altitude lake fishing at Llanganuco
lake situated at 4500m. The lake lies in a narrow glacial valley flanked by the snow-capped peaks of Huascaran and Huandoy. It is divided into two lagoons, the first one is Chinancocha (it means female lake) and the second, Orconcocha (male lake).
Day 13: We spend the full day doing high altitude lake fishing at Orconcocha lake. Return to Lima by luxury night bus.
Day 14: Arrival early morning and transfer to the airport for the flight to Tumbes, on the northern coast of Peru . The province of Tumbes is located in the extreme north western part of the country. Due to its geographic location, so close to the equatorial line, Tumbes has hot and humid weather all year round. Transfer to the Mancora resort with its private beach.
Day 15: Day of leisure.
Day 16:
Transfer to the port for an all-day deep sea fishing programmed. Species often caught include black marlin, striped marlin, large-eye and yellow-fin tuna, mako shark, dorado and barracuda.
Day 17: Return to Tumbes for the flight back to Lima . Transfer to your hotel.
Day 18: Morning free. Transfer to the airport for your return flight home at the end of your Luxury Peru Fishing Tour.
